Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service12/11/2015 With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunlight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a cozy place to be. That extends far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your furnace is operating at its peak. Here are a couple that we find especially helpful here in Columbia: Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a great deal of air is sneaking out of your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside too. There are a variety of fixes that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves. Swap your furnace filter. This is one of the most crucial things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your bills. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s normally recommended to swap your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some can last even longer. Get plants. Indoor plants can provide a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they may likely improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a number of pollutants that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products. Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps make sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t conceded. It doesn’t have to feel hard to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in.
